Headache is a severe disabling disorder
Cluster Headache is described as the worst pain known to mankind. It is deemed ‘Suicide Headache’. A cluster headache attack causes excruciating one-sided headpain described as a hot burning poker being stabbed into your eye and is accompanied by symptoms such as a swollen eye, nasal congestion, flushed skin and sweating. Each attack can last from 15 minutes up to 4 hours and some sufferers can experience up to 8 attacks per day
Migraine is the 3rd most prevalent disease worldwide and the most prevalent neurological disease. Migraine is more than just a headache. It is a neurological disorder that causes severe head pain accompanied by nausea, vomiting, vision issues and light and sound sensitivities. Migraine attacks can last from 4 hours to 72 hours and in chronic migraine suffers experience migraine attacks for more than 2 full weeks in each month.
The Cause of headache
Headache pain results from signals interacting among the brain, blood vessels and surrounding nerves. During a headache, an unknown mechanism activates specific nerves that affect muscles and blood vessels. These nerves send pain signals to the brain.
At Man & Science we are developing technologies to reduce the severity or frequency of headache by using electrical current or precision delivered pharmaceuticals to influence with the nerve pathways involved in headache.
